THERAPEUTIC SERVICE
Technology that made they in social fundraisingTherapeutic services work closely with the Center for Special Education,Home Management and the Outreach programs in delivering a range of services to children with multiple disabilities. These services include Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Aquatic therapy, Speech therapy and Equine therapy. The objective of these services is to focus on delivering comprehensive rehabilitative services & promoting functional independence of the special needs children and young adults
Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapy unit delivers its services with a trained and qualified Occupational Therapist working as part of the multidisciplinary team. The services include individual assessment, treatment, sensory integration and early intervention, focusing on promoting skill development, thus facilitating independence in most of the daily living activities. The unit also works towards assessing, evaluating and recommending adaptive modifications of the mobility aids and postural aids. An international summer internship program in collaboration with Boston University (U.S.) is also being conducted for the interns of Boston University Occupational Therapy College. This is a one month internship program which takes place in the month of July under supervision of the therapy department.
Physiotherapy
The physiotherapy services work for medico- social rehabilitation using various technical inputs for promoting functional goals for the children with multiple disabilities. Children are provided individual sessions, group sessions and family training sessions. The therapeutic intervention is focused on development of the functional abilities through physiotherapy techniques, closely working with occupational therapy and speech therapy units to enhance the prognosis with a multidisciplinary approach.
Sensory Integration
Sensory Integration therapy is conducted under the guidance of the Occupational therapist, in a customized and well equipped sensory integration unit. This facility helps to optimize the sensory imbalances present in the children and young adults with developmental disability mainly in Autism Spectrum Disorder. The therapy conducts individual sessions, group sessions and class room sessions to integrate sensory stimulation and its responses with a view to enhance motor functions.
Speech therapy
Speech therapy unit works cohesively with the Center for Special Education in order to address the needs of children with special needs. The service mainly is focused in assessing and treating children with speech, language and communication difficulty. The oromotor problems with eating and swallowing are also addressed. The qualified speech therapist addresses different areas of disorders such as disarticulation, dysfluency, voice disorders, oromotor rehabilitation, issues related to feeding etc. Regular therapy sessions are conducted, parental counseling is done to develop and carry a home based intervention program. The speech therapy unit addresses referrals from CSE, Home Management and Early Intervention group.
